Flooring marketing and growth

Flooring Marketing That Ends at an Installed Floor, Not Just a Lead

A homeowner who wants new floors has more choices than ever: the home center down the road, the online retailer that ships free samples and a dozen local installers. The flooring companies that keep growing get found first, show up to the measure ready to sell, and follow up until the job is on the calendar. That path is a system, and we build and run it with you.

Thirty minutes, no pitch deck. If marketing isn’t your problem, we’ll tell you.

Flooring marketing is everything that gets a homeowner to book a measure with your company and everything that happens after they do: local SEO, Google Ads, reviews, a website that books appointments, fast lead response and salespeople who can close in the home. Legacy Sales Engineering runs that whole path for flooring contractors and retailers in Florida and nationwide, so paid leads turn into installed floors.

Why do flooring companies lose jobs they should have won?

Speaker addressing an audience with a microphone

Flooring is a big market with big competitors. U.S. flooring sales came to about $23.5 billion in 2025, and Home Depot alone reported roughly $8.6 billion in flooring revenue in 2024. The home centers have the brand, the parking lot and the financing banner. What they rarely have is one person who knows the product, measures the house, answers the phone and stands behind the installation. That is your advantage, and most flooring marketing never says it out loud.

Instead, the leak happens after the lead arrives. Invoca’s call data shows about 27 percent of calls to home services companies go unanswered, and fewer than 3 percent of callers sent to voicemail leave a message. The homeowner who does get through books a measure, collects a quote, puts it on the counter next to the home center price and waits. Nobody follows up, and the job goes to whoever called back. Nobody owns the path from the first search to the installed floor, so nobody fixes it.

What does flooring marketing from Legacy Sales Engineering include?

We build and run the pieces of your growth system in the order that makes money fastest, and we connect every one of them to your CRM so you can see which dollars turned into installed floors.

Growth for most flooring companies comes from three places at once: more of the right leads, more of those leads measured quickly, and more of those measures signed. Improving all three a little beats doubling your ad budget. See how The Full Stack puts them together.

01Local SEO and your Google Business Profile

Service area pages for the towns you want to work in, a profile full of finished rooms and fresh reviews, and plain answers to what homeowners ask AI search tools about cost, materials and install time. More on local SEO.

02Google Ads that follow the project

Campaigns built separately for each product you sell, such as hardwood, luxury vinyl, tile and carpet, with call tracking so you judge ads by measures booked and jobs signed, not clicks. More on ad management.

03A website that books the measure

Room galleries, financing, the products you carry and online booking for a free in-home measure, built to load fast on the phone a homeowner is holding in the living room. More on website development.

04Reviews and finished-room photos

Automated review requests after every install and photos of real rooms, so the next homeowner sees work from their own neighborhood instead of stock images. More on reputation management.

05Speed to lead on every channel

Web forms, missed calls and sample requests get a response in seconds, day or night, through text and AI voice. More on lead engagement.

06A CRM that remembers every quote

WeekendCRM tracks every measure and open quote and follows up automatically, so a kitchen quoted in March is still getting a call in May. More on our custom CRM.

07Salespeople who can close in the home

The same training on our flooring sales training page, so measure appointments turn into signed jobs instead of a price comparison with the home center.

How does a local flooring company compete with the big-box stores?

Stop competing on their terms

The home center will usually win a race to the lowest advertised price per square foot. It is built for that. Your marketing should be built around what it cannot offer as easily: a local expert in the home, samples laid down in the homeowner's own light, one company responsible for the product and the install, and a phone number that a person answers. When your ads, your website and your salespeople all say that clearly, the price comparison changes shape.

Show the whole job, not just the product

A low price per square foot often leaves out removal of the old floor, subfloor prep, moving furniture, trim and transitions. Homeowners find that out late and feel burned. We build pages, ads and follow-up messages that explain what a complete, installed price includes, so your quote looks honest next to a number that only covers the material.

How do you market a flooring company when homeowners take weeks to decide?

Stay in front of them between the measure and the decision

Flooring decisions often wait on a spouse, a budget or the rest of the remodel. We set up follow-up that sends a recap of the options, photos of the samples in their room and a financing reminder, then a scheduled call. The homeowner hears from you while the home center quote sits on the counter unexplained.

Work the list you already paid for

Every past customer has other rooms. Every open quote is a lead you already paid for. Between busy seasons we run reactivation campaigns to old quotes, referral asks to happy customers and next-room offers to past clients. The cheapest job you will sell all year is the second room in a house you already did.

How is this different from a typical flooring marketing agency?

Plenty of good agencies run flooring ads well, and some companies only need that. Here is the honest difference, so you can pick the right fit.

How does a flooring marketing engagement start?

Step one

We audit the whole path

A free thirty-minute evaluation, then a look at your ads, profile, website, call answer rate, CRM and close rate on measure appointments. You see where the money is leaking before we touch a campaign.

Step two

We fix the biggest leak first

Usually that is missed calls or open quotes nobody follows up on, because fixing it costs nothing in new ad spend. Then we tune the campaigns, the profile and the site so new leads land in a system that can handle them.

Step three

We grow what's working

Monthly reporting on measures, signed jobs and revenue by source, not just clicks. Budget moves toward the channels that produce installed floors, and we tell you plainly when to spend more and when to hold.

What does it cost to keep marketing the way you are?

Here is an illustrative example, not a client result. Say a flooring company gets 80 calls a month from its marketing. If 27 percent go unanswered, that is about 22 homeowners a month who wanted a measure and never reached anyone. Most of them will not leave a voicemail. They will book with the next company or drive to the home center. Fixing the answer rate puts them in front of your salesperson without spending another dollar on ads. Leave it alone and every rise in ad costs comes straight out of your margin.

Who will be running your flooring marketing?

Shawn Derrick founded Legacy Sales Engineering after 25 years in sales, much of it in customers’ homes. He has trained and overseen sales teams that generated more than $500 million in revenue across solar, roofing, windows, home security and remodeling. He built the marketing side of the company after watching too many good leads die before anyone sold them. Your marketing, CRM and sales process are run by one team that answers to one number: installed jobs.

Is our flooring marketing the right fit for your company?

Good fit

It is probably a good fit if

  • You sell and install flooring and run in-home measure appointments
  • You spend on ads and can’t tie it to signed jobs
  • Quotes sit open for weeks while homeowners compare you to the home center
  • You’re ready to track every measure and quote in a CRM
Not yet

It is not the right first move if

  • You can’t answer the calls you already get. Start with speed to lead and phones before buying more leads.
  • You want the cheapest possible leads without changing anything else. We are probably not the right agency, and we will say so on the call.

Flooring marketing questions owners ask before they hire

What does a flooring marketing agency do?

It brings homeowners who want new floors to your company, usually through local SEO, Google Ads, social media and a website built to book in-home measures. Ours also handles what happens after the lead arrives: response speed, CRM follow-up on every open quote and the sales training that turns measure appointments into installed jobs.

How can a small flooring company compete with Home Depot and Lowe's?

Compete on what they cannot easily match: a local expert in the home, samples shown in the homeowner's own light, one company responsible for the product and the installation, and a phone that gets answered. Then make the full installed price clear, so your quote is compared fairly against a number that may only cover the material.

What is a good cost per lead for flooring?

It varies widely by market and by product, and we have not found a reliable national benchmark for flooring alone. The better number to watch is cost per installed job. A cheap lead that never books a measure is the most expensive one you buy, so we track every lead through to the signed contract.

How long does flooring SEO take to work?

Profile and review improvements often show up in the map pack within a few months. Ranking service area and product pages in competitive metros usually takes six months or more. Paid search fills the gap while SEO builds, and we report on both every month so you can see which one is producing measures.

How much does flooring marketing cost?

We quote individual services on the first call based on your market and goals. Our Full Stack program covers marketing, CRM, phones and sales training together for $4,995 a month. The evaluation is free either way, and we will tell you if a smaller start makes more sense for your company.

Do you work with flooring companies outside Florida?

Yes. We work with flooring contractors and retailers anywhere in the US. Marketing, CRM and coaching run remotely, and in-person sales training is available for larger teams. Your service area pages and ads are built around the towns you want to work in, wherever they are.

Can you work alongside our current agency or CRM?

Yes. Some owners keep their ad agency and bring us in for speed to lead, the CRM and sales training. We will tell you on the first call which pieces are worth changing and which are working fine, so you never pay twice for the same job.

Let's find where your flooring leads are leaking

Thirty minutes, no pitch deck. We’ll look at your ads, calls, follow-up and close rate on measures and tell you plainly what we would fix first, even if the answer is that your marketing is fine and the problem is somewhere else.
