The Sales Process Podcast

A sales podcast for contractors who sell in the home

Twenty to forty minutes on the part nobody trained you for: what happens between the driveway and the signature.

The Sales Process Podcast is hosted by Shawn Derrick, founder of Legacy Sales Engineering. Solo episodes of roughly twenty to forty minutes walk contractors and home service pros through the in-home sales process, from first impression to referral. The catalog runs about a dozen episodes and is free on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube. New episodes are currently on hiatus.

What is The Sales Process Podcast?

It is a solo show. No interview format, no co-host banter, no panel. Just Shawn Derrick, one subject, and twenty to forty minutes you can carry into your next appointment. Shawn has sold in the home for 25 years, so every episode is built around that environment: the driveway, the kitchen table, the homeowner who has already had two other companies out.

The catalog runs about a dozen episodes and walks the process in order. Nothing is gated, and it is live on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube.

What the catalog covers

Seven subject areas, each tied to a stage of the process.

The seven-step sales process

The complete in-home framework, first impression through referral, and what skipping a stage costs.

Follow-up that actually closes

The timing that keeps an undecided homeowner in your pipeline without making you the call they dodge.

Brand authority and trust

How your brand speaks before you do, and what makes a homeowner decide early.

Doing the work right

Delivering what you sold, on time, at the quality promised. Execution is a sales act.

AI and automation for contractors

Where AI ends, automation begins, and which tool belongs at which stage.

Sales process fundamentals

Trust, structure and preparation: what separates weekly performers from people with good days and bad ones.

Written versions live on the blog; the frameworks are in the free downloads.

Product knowledge and confidence

Why the competition’s specs and warranties change how you present your own.

Who is this show for?

Contractors and home service owners who sell straight to homeowners and want one process they run the same way every time, not a different approach depending on the mood they walked in with. Sales pros in the trades who are getting the appointments and closing fewer than they should. The leak is rarely where people think it is.

If your business runs on an in-home consultation and a real purchase decision, the catalog is worth your drive time. If it does not, this show will not be much use to you, and that is fair to say up front.

How to get something out of it

Listening is easy. Changing what you do Tuesday afternoon is what pays.

Step One

Start at episode one

The catalog was built in order. Take the seven-step process first so later episodes have something to hang on.

Step Two

Change one thing at a time

Carry one idea into your next five appointments. Judge it on results, not on how it felt.

Step Three

Tell us where it broke

When a step will not hold in the field, book a call. We would rather look at your real process than have you guess.

Where can you listen, and when do episodes return?

The catalog is live on Apple Podcasts, and also on Spotify and YouTube. Free, with no form in front of it.

The show is on hiatus while the next season is put together. To know the day it returns, get on the email list. Announcements go there first.

Want a subject covered?

The show is solo, so there is no guest chair to pitch for. There is a question list. Send the objection or stall you keep hitting through the contact page and it will be considered for the next season.

Questions

Questions about the Legacy Sales Engineering blog

When will the first article be published?

We are not going to hand you a date we cannot keep. The articles are in production and go live when they are good, not on a schedule. If you want to know when one lands, say so on the contact form.

Who writes the blog?

Shawn Derrick, founder of Legacy Sales Engineering, with the LSE team. Shawn brings 25 years of sales experience to it. The writing comes out of real work with contractors, not from a content agency renting us words.

Who is this written for?

Contractors and home service business owners, plus the people who sell for them. If your business runs on in home consultations and follow up, you are the reader we have in mind. Owners still doing their own selling get the most from it.

Can I get this material anywhere else?

Yes. The podcast covers the same subjects in conversation, and the downloads page is where written resources will live once finished. The resource library links to all of it.

Free gets you started. A call gets you further.

Bring us the process you run today and we will tell you where it is losing you jobs. No charge, no obligation.
